The Great Rift
Here is just the sky portion from the previous shot with the bus. This is a 2 panel mosaic, each panel is a stack of 13 exposures, each exposure was 2 minutes at ISO 800 and f2.8 with my Nikon D800E and Sigma Art 50mm lens on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer tracking mount. I calibrated each exposure with a master flat frame, debayered, registered, and stacked in PixInsight. After stacking I did a dynamic crop followed by a channel extraction to pull luminance, I separated the image into individual RGB channels and then LinearFit each channel to the Luminance extraction. After that I combined the RGB channels, then did a dynamic background extraction followed by a SCNR on the green (2x). Finally a screen transfer function and exported each panel as a tiff.
I used PTGui to stitch the 2 panels together and saved the mosaic as a photoshop document, the rest of my editing was done in Photoshop and Lightroom, mostly contrast enhancement, saturation, chromatic aberration removal, and star size reduction.
